Blessed are the peacemakers: for they shall be called the children of God.— Matthew 5:9
Peace makers are agents of reconciliation and promoters of peace. Two sides of this truth: Firstly He wants us to pursue and dispense peace. Our God is the God of peace (Romans 16:20). If there are differences with someone settle them quickly. Don't wait for the one who wronged you to apologize, take a bold step to make peace. Don't be the cause of people to hate each other. The second side of the theme scripture is about our ambassadorial roles in Christ through soul winning. In His redemptive work, Jesus brought peace between God and man. But this become a vital and experiential reality in man when He receives Jesus Christ. When you help people receive this salvation you are a peace maker. This peacemaking is a sign of Christian maturity. That is why our theme scripture says these peace makers will be called children of God. Children is translated from a Greek word huios which means matured sons. This means the quality of your relationship with others and the level of your involvement in soul winning and spiritual development of others reflects the level your growth spiritually. Colossians 1:19-20 and 2 Corinthians 5:19 attests to these two sides this peacemaking truth.
