THE GRACE OF GOD EMPOWERS US TO LIVE RIGHTEOUSLY
For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men, teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world.— Titus 2:11-12
There are those who think that the grace of God is synonymous to the acceptance of indiscipline. This is a terrible error. God doesn't like sin and will never like it. While God doesn't count men's sin against them because of Jesus' vicarious sacrifice, He has also included the dimension of discipline in His grace. In this facet, the grace of God presents to the one who is born again God's ability to live righteously. Read again our theme scripture, "For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men, teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world". So grace empowers the believer in Christ to live righteously, soberly and godly as you deny ungodliness and worldly lusts. This has to do with your everyday living, behaviors and attitudes. God's grace will never make you like sin but rather it empowers you to live above it. And there are those who think it is not possible to live righteously here on earth. Look at the theme verse again, it says "…in this present world" and not in heaven. God's grace empowers you to live right in this world. Hallelujah
