Ephesians 6 from verse 10 informs us about spiritual warfare and the spiritual armour we have in Christ. Our understanding of the armour enhances our effectiveness in the warfare. The first component He tells us in the armory is the belt of truth (Ephesians 6:14). In John 17:17 Jesus defined for us truth, "Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth". If you don't know the Word of God, you don't know Truth. God's truth is His Word. This is key because the hallmark of Satan's schemes is deception. Knowing that he lost the war already to Jesus, he thrives on deception. While speaking to the Jewish people in John 8:44, Jesus called Satan the father of lies, "Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it". You can't successfully stand the satanic schemes without the word of God. Know the Word of God. The word of God is your victory, carry it with you always. Psalm 91:4 declares, "He shall cover thee with his feathers, and under his wings shalt thou trust: his truth shall be thy shield and buckler". His Truth which is His Word is your shield and buckler.
