LIFTING UP YOUR HANDS IN PRAISE
I will praise you as long as I live. And in your name, I will lift up my hands.— Psalm 63:4
Another vital aspect you must learn from the theme scripture is about the expressions of praise. David said, "And in your name, I will lift up my hands". One such expression of praise is a lifting up of your hands, apart from the words that come out of your lips in words and in songs and in Psalms. Lifting up of your hands as you praise the Lord is a reverential expression. It's a special acknowledgement of His greatness. Think of when one military team raises hands in combat. It means surrender, showing that the opponents are greater than them. When you lift your hands to God you are declaring His greatness. In Psalm 141:2 David prays, "Let my prayer go forth before thee as incense and the lifting up of my hands as an evening sacrifice". Learn to lift your hands in worship to the Lord. Even now lift up your hands in praise.
