Exposé on Matthew 24:14

Levie Gomagoma Matthew 24:14 (KJV)
“And this Gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations; and then shall the end come” (KJV).
— Matthew 24:14 (KJV)

A NON NEGOTIABLE MANDATE

In the Theme scripture above, the Lord Jesus doesn’t seem to present options for the Gospel. It is very vital to understand that the preaching of the Gospel is non-negotiable mandate. It is not something you do because you like or feel good about. Paul the Apostle inspired by the Holy Spirit pronounces this thought in 1 Corinthians 9:16 (ASV),”For if I preach the gospel, I have nothing to glory of; for necessity is laid upon me; for woe is unto me, if I preach not the gospel”. It is necessary to preach the Gospel. Be reminded that the Gospel of the Lord Jesus is the only means through which man gets saved. In Romans 11:116-17 Paul declared “I am not ashamed of the Gospel of Christ for it is the power of God unto salvation to every man that believes”. This is something that should be done in season and out of season. Tell yourself today that the spreading or preaching of the Gospel is non-negotiable. The Lord Jesus in what has been known as the great commission said “Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature”. Place premium on the Gospel so that there is no second option of negotiations to it. Use the opportunities the Lord has given you to advance the Gospel agenda.

NO BOUNDARIES

In Matthew 24:14 Jesus said “And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations; and then shall the end come”. Let’s take a look at the two underlain portion of the scripture. The term world in the verse is Kosmos in Greek which means universe including all the physical features. This talks of geographical locations. The term nation is derived from ethnos in Greek which refers to people groups (including ethnic groupings). This means it is God’s will that the Gospel is taken to all geographical locations where different people groups are. The people groups can also be professional groupings such those in nurses, teachers, farmers, business groups, students etc. These are nations. There is no one not included in the Gospel target. Jesus came for the whole world. Wherever you are reach out to those around you and far irrespective of their education level, ethnic group and professional status. Develop interest in all people of various cultures for the sake of the Gospel. It doesn't matter how far the distance to the place, be willing to take risky steps to go there because that's Gods heart. Be a blessing through the Gospel to your workmates, schools mates etc. (these are your nations). Defy any boundary and reach out with the Gospel of Jesus Christ in all the world and to all Nations.

FOR A WITNESS

I would like to draw your attention to the term “witness” In Matthew 24:14. That entails a legal action to be used as basis in judgment. Acts 17:31 informs us that God has set a day when he will judge the world with justice. As a just judge, He wants all men to be given the opportunity to receive salvation. The Gospel should be preached even as a witness. That means some may not accept it but God who is a righteous judge gives them opportunity for salvation. So don't give up when it seems that person you preached to laughed at you and rejected the message. It was a witness. Never be discouraged. Sometimes you may have many people accepting the message and sometimes you go to places where they literally chase you and make fun of you. Don't get discouraged, just keep on. He did not promise us that all people will accept. In such cases do it as a witness. You have done your work as a watch man for the people to blow the trumpet when danger approaches (Ezekiel 3:17). Make sure everyone has an opportunity to hear the Gospel in your world. This is the witness and no man has an excuse. May be you ask yourself “will they accept the message I carry?” Have no stress do what you are supposed to do, remember if they may not accept, it will be a witness and it is God’s legal requirement before the Judgment.

A PREPARATION TOOL FOR THE COMING OF THE LORD

In our theme scripture Jesus said “then shall the end come”. That is the end of the Church age or dispensation which closes with the coming of the Lord Jesus (rapture). This means the Gospel is God’s means of preparing lives for the coming of the Lord Jesus and the close of the age. Remember that the world will not be the way it is and so the age. The age is coming to an end. Don't leave your life as though this world and age is permanent. As you preach the Gospel be conscious of the fact that it’s a preparation towards the close of the age and the soon coming of the Lord Jesus. You are God's agent to prepare the world for the coming of the Lord Jesus. It also shows you that one sign pointing us to the closeness of the coming of the Lord is the increased intensity in the spreading of the Gospel. God is raising an army that will selflessly preach and sponsor the Gospel throughout the world. Its end time harvest. We are about to experience the greatest harvest in the church age and soon the trumpet will sound. Be ready to be that vessel in your generation. You are His battle axe and weapon of war (Jeremiah 51:20). GOD BLESS YOU.
