KNOWING HIM PROGRESSIVELY
For the which cause I also suffer these things: nevertheless I am not ashamed: for I know whom I have believed, and am persuaded that he is able to keep that which I have committed unto him against that day.— 2 Timothy 1:12
The more you know the Lord the more you become undaunted in your commitment towards Him. You don't have to stagnate in your spiritual life. Some saints experience spiritual stagnancy, staying at the same level for too long. They are not growing in their faith. You have to keep growing in the knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. 2 Peter 3:18 enjoins "But grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ..." This progressive knowledge has a pivotal bearing in your effectiveness in gospel. In our theme scripture Apostle Paul declares, "For the which cause I also suffer these things: nevertheless I am not ashamed: for I know whom I have believed". He was not ashamed to serve God because He knew the one in whom he had believed. It is one thing to believe in Him and another thing to know Him. Paul knew Him and that was the reason no one could keep him quiet on the gospel. The ridicules of men could not stay him away from preaching the gospel. This should be your testimony too. Daniel 11:32 prophetically declares "but the people who do know their God shall be strong and do exploits". The more you know the Lord, the more you love him and the greater and unwavering your resolute for the gospel. You primarily know the Lord through His Word and by the ministry of the Holy Spirit. Progressively know the one in whom you have believed and you will never get ashamed to serve Him radically. Your knowledge of Him anchors your commitment to Him.
