Our opening scripture presents Christ Jesus as the only mediator between God and man. A mediator is one who brings together for peace parties who are at loggerheads. Another common synonym is "go between". Jesus Christ was the only one qualified to mediate between God and man. When man fell in the Garden of Eden, enmity with God emerged since man was now separated from God. This tells us that man's peace with God is only secured in Christ Jesus. Some war-torn countries have seen many mediators but no meaningful peace achievements have been realized. In the conflict of God and man, only one mediator got the job done perfectly and for good. Romans 5:2 declares, "Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ". Because of Christ's redemptive work we have peace with God. A good mediator needs to have an excellent understanding of the parties in disagreement. Jesus was both God and man as shared in our previous study. He was the "God-man" mediator with full understanding of God and man. Jesus Christ was the only one who secured peace with God for man. The peace with God you have, the fellowship you enjoy with God was secured in Christ Jesus. It doesn't matter how certain religious leaders may be esteemed, there is only one mediator between God and man, Jesus Christ. The case between God and man was only settled by Jesus Christ. Honor Him with such understanding in your life. If you are not born again, give your heart to the Lord today so that you can enjoy this peace and fellowship secured by and in Christ only, the only mediator.
