And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love— 1 Corinthians 13:13 NIV
Our opening scripture brings us three pillar factors to aid your consistent progress in life. These are faith, hope and love. They are the abiding pillars of stability in your walk with God. Ignoring these, is signing for failure which is not God's plan for you. Of the three, He tells us that the greatest is love. 1 Thessalonians 5:8 shows us these three are also spiritual weapons of defense "But let us, who are of the day, be sober, putting on the breastplate of faith and love; and for an helmet, the hope of salvation". Having them you are armored for progress against any opposing force. Hope is that expectation of the future or that better tomorrow you look forward to. It's the positive picture of your tomorrow. Hope keeps you going because of what you can see in your mind about tomorrow regardless of today's challenges. Jesus saw the glory ahead and endured the cross (Hebrews 12:2). Hope fuels endurance. Many have committed suicide and resigned on important projects because they lost the picture of a better tomorrow. Don't lose that picture, don't cast away the hope you have in Him.
A true bedrock sponsor of your hope is the word of God. Romans 15:4 declares, "For whatsoever things were written aforetime were written for our learning, that we through patience and comfort of the scriptures might have hope". The biblical stories of people who arrived at their hope irrespective of how long it took becomes your sponsors of hope. Loss of hope is an open invitation to defeat. The enemy attempts to overthrow people's hope so that they lose the image of a possible better tomorrow. Don't give in to his suggestions. God's plan is that you arrive at the realization of your hope.
When hope is deferred, the heart can be disappointed. Proverbs 13:12 says, "Hope deferred maketh the heart sick: but when the desire cometh, it is a tree of life." The (CEV) says, "Not getting what you want can break your heart, but a wish that comes true is a life-giving tree". God's plan is that hope doesn't fail or disappoint us (Romans 5:5). You are not supposed to wait forever. The next article will enlighten us on the pillar of Faith and its connection to Hope.
