Jesus Christ came into this world through the virgin birth. He was born of the Spirit, the word of God made flesh (John 1:14). He was declared the only begotten Son of the Father. John 3:16 proclaims, "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life". The phrase "Only begotten" comes from the Greek word monogenēs which means the only born. He was the only pure kind of man. He was the God-man. He was the only kind that God desired. He was the only one perfect since all had sinned and fallen short of God's glory (Romans 3:23). He alone had a nature which was sin-free. Jesus was the only one without sin and that is why He qualified to be the sinless sacrifice for the redemption of mankind.

After accomplishing the demands of God's justice through His death and resurrection, He became the "first begotten" of Father as depicted in our theme scripture today. First begotten comes from Greek word prōtotokos which basically mean first born. Today all that believe in Him, are born into the family of God and become brethren to Him. Hebrews 2:11 (NIV) declares, "Both the one who makes people holy and those who are made holy are of the same family. So Jesus is not ashamed to call them brothers and sisters". We are of the same family of Almighty God with Jesus, Him being the first born in the family. Through His resurrection, He became the first one to come out of spiritual death, being born anew. This means we are of His lineage and descent, Hallelujah. Romans 8:29 concurringly states, "For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brethren". He is the first born among many brethren. We are His brethren.

This speaks immensely on what kind of life we have. 1 John 4:17 declares that as He is so are we in this world. He has given us His life. We have His DNA. This means we are like Him in the kind and quality of life we have.
