While it is true that God delights in bringing to pass your heart’s desires, you must know that His vision is the greatest. It is important to connect your desires to God’s vision. Our theme scripture shows us Hannah connecting her desire for a child to God’s vision. She was not only asking for a child just for the pride of being a mother to compete with Peninnah in rivalry. She connected her desire with God’s vision. She said these words in prayer, “if thou wilt indeed look on the affliction of thine handmaid, and remember me, and not forget thine handmaid, but wilt give unto thine handmaid a man child, then I will give him unto the LORD all the days of his life”. She connected her desire to God’s service. With this she would not only be a mother but the child will serve the Lord. If you are praying for a job, how connected is your desire of the job to the expansion of God’s kingdom in the earth? To validate her sincerity, when Samuel was born, she gave him over to serve God. She fulfilled her vow.

King Hezekiah pleaded with God in prayer and was given fifteen more years to live because he connected his desire to God’s purpose. Isaiah 38:18-19 presents an excerpt from his prayer: “For the grave cannot praise thee, death cannot celebrate thee: they that go down into the pit cannot hope for thy truth. The living, the living, he shall praise thee, as I do this day: the father to the children shall make known thy truth”. His desire to still live was connected to God’s purpose and vision, which is about praise and spreading God’s truth to others. For him extra years of life meant praising God more and telling about His truth. These are dear subjects to God, no wonder Hezekiah had quick results. When David desired victory against Goliath He said these words, “This day will the LORD deliver thee into mine hand; and I will smite thee, and take thine head from thee; and I will give the carcases of the host of the Philistines this day unto the fowls of the air, and to the wild beasts of the earth; that all the earth may know that there is a God in Israel. And all this assembly shall know that the LORD saveth not with sword and spear: for the battle is the LORD'S, and he will give you into our hands” (1 Samuel 17:46-47). His desire for victory was to make God known. Learn always to connect your desires with God’s vision.
