TOUCH NOT MINE ANOINTED

Levie Gomagoma Psalm 105:15
Touch not mine anointed, and do my prophets no harm
— Psalm 105:15

It is deeply pathetic to observe some people enjoy and take pride in attacking ministers of the Gospel. This is either done out of ignorance or rebellion. These are attacks towards God’s ministers and through such many have become instruments of Satan to frustrate God’s work. However, these attacks have always boomeranged on them with serious repercussions in one’s life. For this reason God warns in our opening scripture, “Touch not mine anointed, and do my prophets no harm”. This means don’t attack those He appoints. David honored and still respected king Saul though the spirit had departed from Him. Furthermore, David refused to attack and kill King Saul. At multiple times, King Saul attempted to kill David but he evaded the sword by God’s power. 1 Samuel 19:10 (GNT) depicts one such time “Saul tried to pin David to the wall with his spear, but David dodged, and the spear stuck in the wall. David ran away and escaped”. While this was the case David refused to retaliate. At one time David had the opportunity of striking Saul easily as he slept. Abiathar, one of David’s loyal and leading warriors volunteered to kill him but that suggestion was categorically refuted by David. David said to Abiathar: “But the LORD forbid that I should lay a hand on the LORD’s anointed” (1 Samuel 26:11 NIV).

At one time Miriam and Aaron, attackingly, spoke against Moses God’s servant. They arrogantly took liberty to reprimand Moses with the attitude of selfish competition for leadership supposing God can use them too. This was a rebellious and authority-despising attitude in display which God detested. It was an attack on spiritual authority. Numbers 12:8 (ESV) records the Lord’s reprimand to them: “With him (Moses) I speak mouth to mouth, clearly, and not in riddles, and he beholds the form of

the LORD. Why then were you not afraid to speak against my servant Moses?” As a result, Miriam became leprous (Numbers 12:10) and Aaron quickly and repentantly admitted the wrong doing and pleaded for mercy which was granted. You may ask, “What if I see the minister do something wrong, what should I do?” This is my advice to you: Firstly, pray for them. Secondly, seek respectful and constructive ways of getting across whatever concern to them especially through other leaders (preferably senior leaders to him/her). However, even if you don’t see any visible changes after taking these steps, don’t resort to attacking them or humiliating them. Be wise like David. Until King Saul died, David never humiliated him or attacked him. Don’t be found on the wrong side with God, always side with His righteousness.

Confession
The Word of God is my wisdom. My thoughts, attitudes, actions are inspired by God’s word. All my life is a reflection of God’s righteousness. In Jesus name. Amen
