Ephesians 6:12 informs us that we are engaged in a spiritual warfare. In this contest our opponents are not human beings but Satan and his forces of darkness presented in hierarchical classes of principalities, powers, rulers of the darkness of this world and spiritual wickedness in high places. While in Christ we already have overcome evil forces as learnt in our previous article, we must insist on that victory. It is in view of this warfare that we are instructed in our opening scripture to put on the whole armour of God that we may be able to stand against the deceptive strategies of the devil. God has specially prepared a full set of weapons to help us withstand and overcome satanic efforts. I want you to see this as a demonstration of God’s love to us. He doesn’t want us become victims of the devil’s schemes. With these weapons, we can adequately deal with any level of demonic activity and stay in victory. God knows the potency of these weapons and by giving them to us, He knows we can successfully oppose Satan with such. 2 Corinthians 10:4 declares the unmatched capacity of these weapons: “For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds”. These weapons are mighty through God, not the flesh.

You must also observe that it is your responsibility to put on or dress the armour. He says, “Put on” showing that it is our responsibility. So you can’t blame God or anyone for not putting it on. Also notice that He says the whole or full armour of God, not some elements of the set. For us to successfully oppose the enemy, we must put on the full armour. Each element in the set has its own irreplaceable role. Ephesians 6:13 (TLB) instructs us: “So use every piece of God’s armor to resist the enemy whenever he attacks, and when it is all over, you will still be standing up”. Take time to thank God today that in Christ we have all it takes to perpetually walk in victory. Ephesians 6:14-18 gives us the pieces in this full-set armory.
