Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye steadfast, unmovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labor is not in vain in the Lord— 1 Corinthians 15:58
God wants you to be steadfast. He wants you to be steadfast in your walk of faith and your service for God. He wants you to be consistent in your walk of faith with the Lord. Don't allow any shrinkage on your commitment, passion and focus on the Lord. When God instructs you in this way, His grace is supplied for its fulfilment. He says, "Always abounding in the work of the Lord". He wants you to be fruitful always in serving the Lord. For sure you will be faced with contrary winds to drown your commitment. But God supplies the grace to overcome all such. Psalm 92:14 declares about the righteous, "They shall still bring forth fruit in old age; they shall be fat and flourishing". As you add years let your commitment to the Lord grow. Be steadfast in bearing fruits of righteousness. Your consistence in service glorifies God.
For some Christians, the very achievement they testified about has become the explanation of their dwindled commitment to the Lord. They live a life of contradictions. Don't allow anything become a justifiable reason for compromise in your consistence of service. There are those whose commitment vanished once they got married. For some it is a new job that has become an explanation of their extinguished passion. Don't trade your precious commitment to the Lord with anything. Guard jealously your commitment to the Lord. Don't allow distractions in your commitment and service for the Lord. For instance He tells us to pray without ceasing (1 Thessalonians 5:17). This means nothing good or bad should quench the fire of prayer on the altar of your heart. Your unwavering commitment to the Lord in secret and public is a sign of your love for the Lord. That is the way you prove your love for the Lord.
