Our theme scripture reveals what powers effective evangelism. The Holy Spirit is God's power behind effective evangelism. Without Him your efforts will be wanting and ineffective. He comes in your life to make you an effective witness of the risen Christ. The word witness is from Greek word martus which refers to the most reliable witness. This term was used to describe the eye witness. It means proof producer. The same word is used in Revelation 1:5 where The Lord Jesus is called the Faithful witness. The Lord Jesus produces proof of the invisible God. He is the manifestation of God in bodily form. This is what we are by the Holy Spirit – Proof producers. Your life is meant to openly explain God to your generation. You are meant to be the living proof that Jesus is alive. The Holy Spirit helps you in this noble call. The Holy Spirit grants you boldness in the preaching of the Gospel. The moment the disciples received the Holy Spirit their fears were banished. Peter was no longer afraid and preached the gospel boldly (Acts 2:41). With the Holy Spirit the words you speak are life and spirit, they are full of power to change men's lives. The Holy Spirit gives you divine ability for the miraculous as you preach the Gospel. Paul declared in Romans 15:19, "Through mighty signs and wonders, by the power of the Spirit of God; so that from Jerusalem, and round about unto Illyricum, I have fully preached the gospel of Christ". The Lord Jesus also did His work by the Holy Spirit as testified in Acts 10:38. The Holy Spirit empowers you to effectively impact your world with the Gospel.
