Our theme scripture captures the prophetic insight given to Hosea the prophet in the Old Testament concerning the New Testament order of worship. While in the Old Testament they offered sacrifices of animals, in the New Testament we give our sacrifices with our lips. That is why he called them the calves of our lips. These are words welling from a heart of gratitude to the Lord. That is what Apostle Peter by the Spirit referred to as spiritual sacrifices in 1 Peter 2:5, "Ye also, as lively stones, are built up a spiritual house, an holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices, acceptable to God by Jesus Christ". We are also enjoined in Hebrews 13:15, "By him therefore let us offer the sacrifice of praise to God continually, that is, the fruit of our lips giving thanks to his name". This is your New Testament role as God's priest to offer spiritual sacrifices of praise to God. Be active in this responsibility of rendering the calves of your lips with grateful hearts. Hallelujah
