The great tribulation will be a time of great trouble that this world has ever experienced. The Lord referred to it in our theme scripture Mathew 24:21. This collaborates perfectly with Daniel 12:1 which states, "And at that time shall Michael stand up, the great prince which standeth for the children of thy people: and there shall be a time of trouble, such as never was since there was a nation even to that same time: and at that time thy people shall be delivered, every one that shall be found written in the book". Jeremiah the prophet also saw the great tribulation coming and called it the time of Jacob's trouble "Alas! For that day is great, so that none is like it: it is even the time of Jacob's trouble, but he shall be saved out of it" (Jeremiah 30:7). This is the time when the anti-Christ shall come in office and discharge Satan's wicked and totalitarian rule without restraint in the world for a space of 3.5 years. This 3.5 years is also termed a time, times and dividing (half) of time by Daniel and Apostle John (Dan 7:25, Rev 12:14). This period is the second half of a 7 year period generally called the tribulation period which will commence with the antichrist guaranteeing the peace of Israel with a 7 year peace treaty (Dan 9:27).

Revelation 13:7 NLT alludes to this period, "And the beast was allowed to wage war against God's holy people and to conquer them. And he was given authority to rule over every tribe and people and language and nation". God will allow Satan to exercise rule through the antichrist during that time of great tribulation. But remember in line with our previous study, the Church of Jesus Christ shall not be here during that time. The Church shall be exempted from this time through the rapture. Hallelujah
