Hebrews 12:2 enjoins us to look unto Jesus the author and perfector of our faith. He is our perfect example. In His earthly days the Holy Spirit was visibly significant. Jesus did not begin ministry without the Holy Spirit. Matthew 3:16-17 indicates "As soon as Jesus was baptized, He went up out of the water. Suddenly the heavens were opened, and He saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove and resting on Him". This was the official commencement of His ministry. Thereafter, He was led by the Holy Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted of the devil (Mathew 4:1). He returned from the wilderness in the power of the Spirit into Galilee (Luke 4:14). Our theme scripture Acts 10:38 attests, "How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Ghost and with power: who went about doing good, and healing all that were oppressed of the devil; for God was with him". This lets you know that Jesus ministered by the Holy Spirit. Even in His vicarious death, Jesus offered Himself through the eternal Spirit of God (Hebrews 9:14) and He resurrected by the power of the Spirit. Romans 8:11 says, "But if the Spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, he that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by his Spirit that dwelleth in you". After resurrection, He gave instructions to the Apostles by the Holy Spirit (Act 1:2). You can observe that the Holy Spirit was so apparent in Christ's life and ministry. Just like Him, you can't please God, fulfilling His purpose without the Holy Spirit. He is your absolute advantage in this life.
