Virtue – Moral Excellence

Levie Gomagoma 2 Peter 1:5-7
And beside this, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue; and to virtue knowledge; and to knowledge temperance; and to temperance patience; and to patience godliness; and to godliness brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness charity.
2 Peter 1:5-7

Today we will look at virtue as another catalytic factor of productivity in our lives. Virtue means moral excellence. God wants you to be of high moral standards. He doesn't want you immoral or disorderly in life. The word of God is the yardstick to define what is morally acceptable in the eyes of God. John 17:16 tells us that even though we are in the world, we are not of this world. We don't belong to the systems of this world. 1 Thessalonians 4:7 says, "For God did not call us to be impure but to live a holy life". Romans 12:2 instructs, "be not conformed to this world but be renewed be transformed by the renewing of your mind". This means you are not supposed to behave like the world. An immoral character undermines your efforts to be fruitful. Proverbs 22:1 (AMP) says, "A good name [earned by honorable behavior, godly wisdom, moral courage, and personal integrity] is more desirable than great riches".

God's word is God's building material for a godly character. Don't live your life to please men but God. Don't try to fit in into the system of the world. Be radical in your faith and let the word of God be your guide for what to accept and follow in your life. 1John 2:15-17 enjoins us "Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world. And the world passeth away, and the lust thereof: but he that doeth the will of God abideth forever". Let your behavior and conduct bear witness that you belong to Jesus. Embrace moral excellence in your life and watch yourself grow from glory to glory.

Prayer
Dear righteous Father, I bless your name today for your love and kindness in granting me the gift of your living Word. Your Word builds in me moral excellence that manifests your character to my world. In Jesus name. Amen
