Just as God longs for all people to be saved as learnt in our previous study, He also long for those saved to know the truth. The longing applies both to the salvation and knowledge of the truth. The word knowledge comes from a Greek word epignosis which is the deep and intimate knowledge. It is also fellowship knowledge where you become united with what you know. This knowledge empowers you to manifest the truth. Take notice of the definite article “the” truth in the anchor scripture which show that He is not referring to any truth but God’s truth. Our Lord Jesus defined for us truth in John 17:17, “Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth”. God’s desires is for all His children to intimately know His Word. His Word is His truth. You must be intentionally serious in growing in the knowledge of the Word of God. If you are a spiritual leader, get serious with the teaching of God’s Word to build the saints with God’s truth. Teach the Word with diligence as an expression of your longing for them to be united with divine truth.

The opening scripture reveals to us that God is not just interested in soul winning but also soul development with divine truth, His Word. The Lord longs for you to grow unto Christian maturity whose means is His Word. 2 Peter 3:18 enjoins us, “But grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and forever. Amen”. Make sure that you don’t stagnate in spiritual knowledge. Even if you have read your bible from Genesis to revelation many times you haven’t exhausted it. It is the only book in the whole world which is timeless and has inexhaustible treasures of divine truths and wisdom. Romans 11:33 (GNT) acknowledges the vastness of God’s storeroom of wisdom and knowledge: “How great are God’s riches! How deep are his wisdom and knowledge! Who

can explain his decisions? Who can understand his ways?” Never graduate from God’s Word in your life, keep learning. He wants you to be the manifestation of His truth to your world.
