HE WILL SHOW YOU THINGS TO COME
Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come— John 16:13
Have you ever heard some people say that no one knows tomorrow? I am sure you have heard some say that, even among Christians. When they say that they think it’s humility but that demonstrates spiritual ignorance. Look at our opening scripture. Jesus said that the Holy Spirit will show you things to come. In other words, He will show you the future. With His ministry in your life, you can know what is ahead. Don’t talk as a worldly person. You must be ruled by the word of God and not people’s experiences. The Holy Spirit is your greatest advantage in this life. He lets you know about what is coming ahead through words and visions. In Acts 10:10-16 we see Apostle Peter having a vision in which he was told to kill and eat unclean animals of the Old Testament which was a taboo for a Jew. Joel 2:28 prophesied that the Holy Spirit would bring us visions. This is what happened to Peter. God was showing Him about the gentiles coming into salvation in Christ. It revealed the future which had arrived. It showed that the Spirit would be getting into the kingdom of God people from among the non-Jewish community.
As Peter thought about the vision, the Holy Spirit said to him: “Simon, three men are looking for you. So get up and go downstairs. Do not hesitate to go with them, for I have sent them.” (Acts 10:19-20 NIV). The Holy Spirit made him know of the visitors before any knock on the doors. In Isaiah 46:10 (NLT) the Lord declares, “Only I can tell you the future before it even happens. Everything I plan will come to pass, for I do whatever I wish.” He doesn’t want you to become a victim of circumstances because you didn’t know what was coming ahead.
He can show things before they happen. This is one such amazing ministry of the Holy Spirit in your life. With the Holy Spirit in your life, you cease to be ordinary. Cherish His ministry in your life.
