Our opening scripture is an extract of an amazing story of Zaccheus, a rich man and a chief tax collector (Luke 19:2). This man desperately wanted to see Jesus but due to his short height, he couldn't. Then he did that which is shameful for a man of his caliber. He decided to out run Jesus' huge procession and he climbed a tree to gain height advantage. Luke 19:4 (MSG) says, "So he ran on ahead and climbed up in a sycamore tree so he could see Jesus when he came by". I would like you to imagine a chief tax collector, who is also rich, running and climbing a tree. This surely shows how desperately desirous he was to see the Lord. Your desire is an invitation magnet for key supernatural experiences in your life. Those with no or weak desire don't ascend higher levels in their walk with God. His desire mounted up and positively collided with God's programme for His life. Sometimes, certain manifestations hung in the spirit if there is no corresponding spiritual desire.

Verse 5 indicates, "And when Jesus came to the place, he looked up, and saw him, and said unto him, Zacheus, make haste, and come down; for today I must abide at thy house". With no prior connivance, as He passed by the place, Jesus looked up and saw Him. The certainty in the Lord's communication shows that this was God's planed special visit which was awaiting invitation by desire. Getting to his home, Jesus said, "Today salvation has come to this house, because this man, too, is a son of Abraham" (Luke 19:9 NIV). This was a heavenly visitation to Him which was invited by unquenchable desire clearly displayed by Zacheus. What is the level of your spiritual hunger or desire? David said, "As the deer pants for water, so I long for you, O God. I thirst for God, the living God" (Psalm 42:1-2). Don't be a person without spiritual desire. Consistent spiritual desire is an asset we must have and nurture.
