It is native of our new nature in Christ to please God. The Holy Scriptures guide us on how to live in a manner that pleases God. 1 Thessalonians 4:1 (ESV) enjoins us "Finally, then, brothers we ask and urge you in the Lord Jesus, that as you received from us how you ought to walk and to please God". You are called to please God. For instance, our anchor scripture today lets us know that sanctification is God's will for us. This refers to being set apart to God in the way we live. It's about living a separated life unto God. This is Christian consecration. Living a desecrated life is costly. You can lose great things by living an undisciplined life. A desecrated life opens doors to demons in your life. Jesus told the man who was healed of his 38 yearlong infirmity, "See, you are well again. Stop sinning or something worse may happen to you" (John 5:14 NIV).

The Amplified Classic rendering of the theme scripture says, "For this is the will of God, that you should be consecrated (separated and set apart for pure and holy living): that you should abstain and shrink from all sexual vice". You are called to live a set apart life. Though you are in the world where people behave differently, you are not of the world. Your life has to be moderated by God's will. You don't live the way you want. 1 Thessalonians 4:7 stresses, "For God has not called us to impurity, but to holiness". Don't entertain worldly behaviors such as sexual immorality. The Lord made a remarkable statement in John 14:30 saying, "The prince of this world comes and he has nothing in me". He declared that Satan had nothing to point in Him. Don't harbor satanic traits in your life. Living a consecrated or sanctified life can be unpopular to others around you and you may become an object of mockery.

But none of these things should move you. Live the life that God wants you to live. Just know that what seems to be God's foolishness is wiser than human wisdom, and what seems to be God's weakness is stronger than human strength (1 Corinthians 1:25 GNT).
