Nothing in this world is as precious as the human soul. This is what the Spirit of the Lord communicated through the Psalmist in our opening scripture. It says no payment is ever enough on this earth to ransom the human soul. This shows the inestimable value of the soul. This changes your perception about the human life. The Lord Jesus collaborated this truth with a thought provoking question in Mark 8:36-37: “For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? Or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul?” He is telling us that nothing in this world equal the value of a soul. The value of the human soul cannot be determined, calculated or traced in this earth. Only God can show you the true value of the soul.

To show us how precious the soul is God sent His own son to ransom man. 1 Peter 1:18-19 (TLB) announces God’s value of a soul: “God paid a ransom to save you from the impossible road to heaven which your fathers tried to take, and the ransom he paid was not mere gold or silver as you very well know. But he paid for you with the precious lifeblood of Christ, the sinless, spotless Lamb of God”. This shows you that the human soul is worth the life of Jesus. What you pay for a thing, is its value. God paid the life of His Son to ransom the human soul. Jesus came into this world, experienced pain upon the cross of Calvary for the sake of man. That is how much He values the human soul. He doesn’t want anyone to end up in the lake of fire, where Satan, the antichrist and the false prophet will be for eternity.

That is why He has no pleasure in the death of a sinner (Ezekiel 33:11). 1 Timothy 2:4 declares God’s heart beat for man, “Who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth”. He holds this dear desire because He values man, He already paid for Him in Christ’s vicarious death.
