Our love for the Lord is not supposed to be abstract. The Lord Jesus helped us properly define our love for Him. Our love for the Lord Jesus is defined in keeping His word which means doing His word. If you don’t do His Word, then you don’t truly love Him. Stressing on the importance of our love for Him, 1 Corinthians 16:22 unequivocally states, “If any man love not the Lord Jesus Christ, let him be Anathema Maranatha”. Your true love for the Lord is prized highly in His sight. This love is not just in word but in doing His word. James 1:22 instructs us: “But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves”. Be a word practitioner.

To do the word of God consistently, you must learn the word, meditate on the Word. Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly (Colossians 3:16). Your love for Jesus is reflected in your love for His Word. God and His word are one as John 1:1 declares,” In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God”. His Word is the expression of His personality, thoughts, will and purpose. In Matthew 22:37 the Lord says, “You must love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, and all your mind”. You express this love for Him in submitting to the Lordship of His Word. Abraham when told to give his son in sacrifice, he obeyed. That was proof of his loyalty and love for the Lord (Genesis 22:12). The Lord declared in John 14:21, “He that hath my commandments, and keepeth them, he it is that loveth me”. Demonstrate your love for the Lord in walking in His Word.
